THE PROGRAMS
After-School Programs
The
after school program is open to elementary through high school students
and is offered at no cost. We offer classes in music, drama, dance and
art. Our devoted teachers aim to provide artistic instruction and
desire to nurture each child's inspiration to grow in the arts
regardless of their level of experience. The students will work
together in each class creating material for either a performance or an
art show at the end of the semester. The after school program is
designed to create a safe learning environment for the inner city
children of Detroit who are passionate about the arts.
Summer Camps
During the summer months of June and July,
Urban Arts provides weekly performing and visual art camps for
elementary, middle and high school students. The students are
introduced to each artistic element: art, music, drama, and dance.
Over the duration of the week, they work on creating material for the
final performance. Lunch and a snack are served daily. A dinner and
the final performance is held on Friday which provides an opportunity
for the students to share what they have learned with their family and
the community.
